New mediation program in Valencia to enhance coexistence in tourist apartments through weRespect

weRespect event in Valencia

At Roomonitor, we are committed to social sustainability and improving the relationship between guests and neighbors in short-term rental properties (STRs). As part of this commitment, we are excited to share one of the latest initiatives driven by WeRespect, which will launch a pilot mediation program in Valencia to address any issues between residents and short-term rental managers.

A Mediation Channel to Resolve Conflicts

Through the new service, available at 960 990 472, Valencia residents will be able to channel complaints and resolve potential conflicts related to short-term rental properties. The aim is to offer an effective and swift solution for problems that may arise between residents and guests.

This mediation program includes a structured approach to conflict resolution, which involves:

  • Initial interviews to identify the root causes of the conflict.
  • Establishing action plans with clear timelines and objectives.
  • Ongoing follow-up to ensure that the agreements reached are being implemented.

WeRespect: A Guide for Responsible Management of STRs

In parallel, WeRespect has announced the distribution of a practical guide for property owners and managers of short-term rentals in Valencia. This guide offers key recommendations for sustainable and responsible management, covering aspects such as:

  • Clear communication with guests.
  • Proper property maintenance.
  • Promoting sustainable tourism with efficient resource management (water, energy, etc.).
  • Strategies to support the local economy and mitigate tourist congestion.

The goal is to ensure that the tourism experience is positive not only for the guests but also for local residents and the community.

Roomonitor and WeRespect: Technologies to Reduce the Impact of Tourism

Roomonitor has been a key driver behind WeRespect, an initiative launched in 2018 in collaboration with industry associations. As part of this project, one of our main contributions has been the installation of noise detection devices in short-term rental properties.

These devices have proven to be extremely effective, resolving 57% of noise complaints in under 28 minutes in 2023. With this technology, we not only help improve neighbor relations but also contribute to the professionalization of the sector.

A Commitment to Responsible Tourism

The event took place at ADEIT Fundación Universidad-Empresa in Valencia. We had the collaboration of Aptur and Airbnb, along with the support of the Valencian Community and Actitud Mediterránea. In attendance were Israel Martínez Fernández, Director General of Tourism for the Generalitat Valenciana, Sebastián Cucula, President of the College of Property Managers of Valencia, Sílvia Blasco, President of ApturCV, Juan Cristellys, Public Policy Manager at Airbnb, and Gabriel Pérez, Head of Public Relations of weRespect.

WeRespect and Roomonitor are committed to creating a more responsible and sustainable tourism model. In addition to offering technological solutions to improve community relations, this alliance aims to strengthen the fight against illicit rentals and unfair competition in the short-term rental sector.

Mediation and noise control not only improve the quality of life for residents but also protect the future of tourism in our cities, ensuring that all stakeholders benefit from efficient and responsible management.

With initiatives like this, Roomonitor continues to establish itself as a key partner in creating a more balanced, sustainable, and socially responsible tourism industry.
